POSCO makes its best effort to minimize the emission of chemicals from the steel-making processes. POSCO is using the LDAR (Leak Detection and Repair) system to reduce the emission of Benzene and Ammonia from Coke plants. Since 2000, POSCO has conducted continuous research activities to reduce the dioxin emission generated at sinter plants. One of them is the technology putting Urea into the sintering furnace and the development of activated carbon injection technology. Along with that, we have launched various activities to improve production process including performance improvement of dust collector installed at sinter plants. POSCO made a voluntary agreement to reduce the emission of chemicals with government, and with this agreement, POSCO will actively and continuously deploy the will of sustainable management. |
