
POSCO actively participates in prominent international organizations including the International Iron and Steel Institute(IISI), the International Stainless Steel Forum(ISSF) anf South East Asia Iron and Steel Institute(SEAISI), and simultaneously does its best to solve environmental issues through close information exchange. POSCO takes the initiative in coping with environmental issues in the world including those raised in the Kyoto Protocol of U.N. In order to practice the environmental management with small and medium company, POSCO has engaged in 'Big-Small and Medium Green Partnership Business' initiated by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy and managed by Korea National Cleaner Production Center in Korea Institute of Industrial Technology. POSCO had promoted, from 2003 (the first year of the business) to 2006, the spread of environmental business and the transfer of green technology in terms of the assessment for environmental management on the production process and support for ISO14001 certification, issue of environment report, and environment mart certification for 44 suppliers and the client. In addition, in October 2006, the company has closed a voluntary agreement with the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy on spreading the results of Big-Small and Medium Green Partnership Business.
